ABOUT HEART ∞ MAPS

I have been making maps since childhood. They are a tool to navigate my research processes and map and remix the various intermingling and interconnected threads in my life and practice. In recent years through my efforts to collapse the binary of productive/reproductive alongside my longstanding commitments to collapse the binaries of private/public, studio/exhibition and life/art,

I have asked myself “Can I make reproductive art? In an entangled world isn’t the process of art making reproductive anyways? In other words can I make art and produce knowledge, like I do the dishes or brush my teeth? As an act of maintenance and care, not aiming at a goal or product.

In this process my maps have gained a life of their own and I have been sharing my heart ∞ maps in various forms. During the pandemics as digital formats or printed posters (comissioned by ao. Oslo Internasjonale Teaterfestival, Centre Pompidou Kanal and Delta Magazine), sent to peoples homes, as well as post-pandemic as actual objects that are shared in exhibitions, during events and also in the context of teaching.

They are an ongoing practice to deepen and share my artistic research with others.
